Thanks to Carol Stover for her help with doll identification!
Carol's book is WELL worth the money if you are interested in dolls from this era! Commissions paid to me by Amazon.com help me keep this website of free information up on the Internet. Thanks!
You have to draw the line somewhere.
There were also 6-inch, 10-inch, 11-inch, and 12-inch toddler or child-bodied dolls that look very "Ginny-Type." And there were other dolls - teens and big sisters - in the same size range that are not true Ginny-types. Also, Germany, Japan, and many other countries were prolifically producing dolls during this time period.
So far I haven't included many of them. But keep checking - maybe someday!
