IDENTIFICATION TIPS FOR Fortune, Virga, PMA & BEEHLER/ONTARIO GROUP DOLLS:
These characteristics identify the dolls made and/or sold by Beehler Arts, Ontario Plastics, Fortune, Virga, and PMA dolls: The 8-Inch Dolls by these Companies ALL have: MOLDED-ON T-STRAP SHOES (except Pam "ballerina" which has molded ballerina feet) * PMA was more likely to paint the shoes/feet, although this is not a hard and fast rule. - Distinct but small navel
- Faint crease in center of kneecap (dimples on either side of knee in 9-inch model)
- Deep indentation between lower lip and chin - no dimple like Ginger's
- Many have molded-on "baby hair" under wig
Faces are wide, round, with large eyes that are not as round as Ginger's.
THEY DIFFER IN THESE TRAITS:- HEAD MOLD SEAM: Seamline cuts through back of ear of
PMA and Fortune. (gives back of ear flat chopped look)
Photo: My Collection Virga seam line goes behind the ear - EYELASHES:
PMA dolls usually have painted-on lower lashes. Fortune and Virga dolls never do. - ARM HOOK ATTACHMENT:
Fortune has Tube or Peg arm attachment hook:
PMA and Virga has "standard" or "C" arm hook:
Fortune's (Pam) arms are lighter in color than her body, and the hands have separate fingers. - Most VIRGA dolls have middle fingers fused, although some , especially the dolls of color, have individual, separate fingers.
- Remember, when trying to identify old dolls, that arms were held in with rubber bands, which break, and dolls may have replacement arms - not necessarily with the original.
