If You're Serious About Small Vintage Dolls, This book is a Must-Have:



 

Okay, You have just found an old doll.  Who is she? 

This guide can help you identify her, if:

  • The doll is approximately 8 inches tall - no smaller than 7 inches and not taller than 9

  • You think she may be from the 1950's (likely if all hard plastic - possible if plastic body and vinyl head)

  • Her body is made of hard plastic. 
    1950's dolls of this genre sometimes had vinyl heads, but bodies were hard plastic. With a few exceptions (most notably Effanbee Fluffy) the all-vinyl bodies came after 1960. 

Although there were over 25 individual dolls of the 8 inch "Ginny-Type" format sold during the 1950's, most were assembled from parts produced by just a few manufacturers. 

The easiest dolls to identify are those with back markings.
