| NANCY & SLUGGO
These loveable comic strip characters are a bit of an anomaly. At first glance they appear to be just another set of PMA dolls with special clothes. Actually, they are more complex than that. They show characteristics consistent with PMA, Virga, Reliable, and possibly some of the English companies. I say this based on what I have read. I have never held one in my hands. They are very rare, very expensive, and highly sought by collectors. In 1999, I saw two sets go through EBay - for $800 - $1200 EACH (double that for the pair) Nancy and Sluggo were a promotional item, which may have been made in England, but for the American market. One source says they are from the 1940's, but this is doubtful, since this type of hard plastic doll did not appear on the market anywhere until 1950.
