If You're Serious About Small Vintage Dolls, This book is a Must-Have:
RELIABLE of Canada Photos: My collection
Reliable was a doll company in Canada.
They made dolls of many sizes across the entire quality spectrum - from excellent to cheap. They produced many Native-American dolls - "Eskimos" and "Indians." All of their dolls have a uniquely Canadian look that is unlike dolls of the same era being made in the United States. The plastic of the "white" dolls is bright and lightweight and shiny.
Reliable Susie was a 9-inch hip-pin walker, who was constructed exactly the same as the PMA and Virga 9-inch dolls, except for the type of plastic used. Her face is different from those dolls, but her legs and feet, and the hip-joint assembly, are much the same as the PMA and Virga dolls of the same size. Reliable Patsy was just like her, only with no wig, just molded-on baby hair.
